当工房では、バイオリンの製作や修理に使用するニスの材料として、天然樹脂「ドラゴンズブラッド（竜血樹脂）」を取り入れています。
今回、新たにイギリスのお香専門店からドラゴンズブラッドを入手しました。 以前ニス用に購入したものよりも価格が抑えられていたうえ、樹脂の質がとても良く、色味の深さや透明感が一段と安定している印象です。
ドラゴンズブラッドは古くから知られる赤色の樹脂で、木地に柔らかい赤みと温かみを与えてくれます。
実際に製作したバイオリンにもこのニスを使用しており、木材の質感を損なわず、自然な深みと柔らかい輝きを引き出してくれます。
In my workshop, I use natural resin Dragons’ Blood as one of the materials for the varnish applied in violin making and restoration.
Recently, I obtained a new batch of Dragons’ Blood from an incense shop in the UK. Compared with the resin I previously purchased for varnish making, this one was more affordable and the quality is noticeably higher. The depth of color and the clarity of the resin feel much more consistent and refined.
Dragons’ Blood has long been known as a red-colored natural resin, giving the wood a gentle warmth and a soft reddish hue.
I use this varnish on the violins I make, and it enhances the natural character of the wood without obscuring its texture, bringing out a rich depth and a warm, subtle glow.
